Human Rights Activists Killed 

Some of the Human Rights Activists who denounced the occupation of DR Congo by Rwanda, who paid the price with their lives. This list is not exhaustive. 

Christophe Munzihirwa Mwene Ngabo was a Democratic Republic of the Congo prelate. He served as the Archbishop of Bukavu. He was a vocal supporter of human rights in the face of the conflict that claimed his own life. He was killed in October 1996.

The Archbishop Emmanuel Kataliko of Bukavu, was poisoned and passed away in Rome,  He was a  symbol of resistance.  He paid the ultimate price for his resistance against the Rwandan occupation during the RCD-Goma rebellion. He passed away October 2000.

Catholic priest, Father Vincent Machozi Karunzu, a tireless advocate of human rights in Africa, He escaped death at least seven times before he was killed. He was murdered in March 2016.

Floribert Chebeya Bahizire was a human rights defender from Bukavu and an executive director of one of the Congo's  most respected human rights organizations, the Voix des Sans Voix. He was killed under President Joseph Kabila reign in DRC, Joseph Kabila is a Rwanda National but become a president in DRC.  Floribert was killed in June 2010.
